Mercy me. April has come and gone.
This week has finally been pretty weather. Sure took it long enough to get here.
As most of you know my frost free faucet saw fit to bite the dust on Christmas Eve. I had my neighbor come over and shut the valve off. Sure glad I had that shut off valve put in the last time the faucet went out. Hopefully this faucet will last longer than some of the others have. It came from Grand Junction Pipe & Supply and they assure me that the repairs can be made from the top in the future. Just pull out the center from the top of the faucet, take to their office in Durango, get the part, bring home and install, put back together and your in business with no more digging. I sure hope and pray that it will work this way.
I'm sure glad I have neighbors that are willing to shut these valves off for me as I just can't ever get that KEY to work right for me and instead of really breaking something quite badly I figure it is better to let someone do it that knows exactly what they are doing.
I hired a 16 year old high school student to do the digging out around the old faucet this last weekend and the tree roots that he ran into. Some were as big as my upper arm. Well to make a long story short he got the faucet dug out finally and my good friend the "INSPECTOR" did the plumbing part yesterday and Shawn will call when school is out this afternoon, I will go pick him up and he will fill the hole back in. Next weekend I will have Walt come turn the sprinkler system on which could not be done for this faucet mess was in the way.
We are suppose to get heavy rain tonight and all day tomorrow and I really hope it does as my lawn really needs a good watering.
Then next is my roof problem. This will be tackled somewhere near the middle of May.
One thing about it when you are a home owner there is always maintenance to be taken care of.
Even though I have more or less been inside this past month things have been very busy. Celebrated my birthday late with a couple of friends. Went out to lunch one day in Durango and that was really nice. I have another friend that retired from the same company that I did on the 27th of March. She and I were visiting Tuesday of this week about retirement and how we love it and that you never seem to have enough time and we were both wondering how we made things work at home and work. Very interesting.
